As an Experience Designer, I believe in the delicate balance between embracing change and honoring familiarity. Every design decision I make stems from a deep understanding of the users; however, updates and changes can evoke mixed reactions—what delights one group of users might unsettle another.
My role is to navigate this tension thoughtfully, ensuring that change is not just for the sake of innovation but is rooted in research, user needs, and strategic intent.
Change has been a constant in my life. Growing up, I moved between England, Germany, Korea, and the United States, adapting to new cultures, languages, and ways of life (I lost my British accent along the way T_T). Each move was both a challenge and an opportunity, teaching me how to embrace the unfamiliar and quickly find my footing in new environments. These experiences shaped not just my adaptability but also my empathy for others navigating change.
This perspective fuels my work as a designer. I strive to create experiences that guide users through transitions—balancing the reassurance of the familiar with the excitement of something new. For me, design is not just about solving problems; it’s about helping people feel seen, supported, and empowered as they engage with the evolving world around them.
I'm currently the VP of Design at LA Blueprint, a student-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to building apps for other nonprofits. building a strong community has been a challenge for me having moved around so much, but a place I feel at home is here. Together, we take on 3 year-long projects that help make direct impacts to our community. Check out WriteGirl and TransCanWork!
While we love designing and coding for social good, what makes Blueprint truly special is the way we grow together as a community. We go on retreats, host career fairs, and partner with companies like Roblox and Figma to share resources and learn from each other. On top of leading the design team, I also get to handle our social media, website, and merch, which has been super fun!
Lately, I’ve been diving into 3D modeling—it’s my newest skill I've been growing. I love brand and concept design, and while sketching and prototyping ideas into products is amazing, there’s something so impressive about building a physical mockup.
One of my favorite brands, Gentle Monster, nails this perfectly. Their sunglasses are fascinating on their own, but it’s the concept branding, with its stunning 3D visualizations and animations, that really sets them apart. As a Design Media Arts major, I’ve been lucky to learn from professors who are pros in tools like Unity, Blender, and Maya. I’ve taken every chance I can to deepen my interest in 3D design, and it’s been such a fun challenge so far!
My favorite thing in the world has to be my dog, Wolke. He’s a 13-year-old Maltese with a super special birthday: March 18. What makes it so cool is that my best friend Katie, who I’ve been close with since middle school, shares the same birthday. The moment I found that out, I just knew Katie and I would be friends for life.
We didn’t get Wolke in Germany, as his name might suggest, but in Korea. "Wolke" means cloud in German—it’s a pretty common name for white dogs, but we wanted to make it a bit cooler and unique. :p
